In other words, there are three, very clear and distinct, levels. Maybe 2 devices are enough for you, or maybe you think the need is big enough to justify the cost, I know I do. Evernote costs money for more than 2 devices, though, and this is a big deal for many people who are new to note-taking, clipping and archiving digitally. If you don't want to waste your time sorting things you can still search, and just like OneNote, the search is pretty flawless. If you like categorizing your notes in general and you like to have a good overview with tags or notebooks Evernote is also the strongest one, with a lot of options including colors for tags if you want another layer of separation. The ability to import scanned documents is also similar, but Evernote has a few smart twists if you use a lot of post-it notes with auto-tagging and categorizing depending on the color. They are not different enough for me to give a huge edge to OneNote in advanced note-taking, but maybe a very small one. The note-taking functionality is also impressive, and you get most of the format opportunities and abilities of OneNote. You can dedicate a watch folder on your computer and drop files in that folder to get it directly imported to Evernote. So Evernote is extremely good at saving things from the web or just digital things in general. You can get a copy of the page or a good scaled-down version that looks like a clean article, something OneNote still struggles with. Evernote, on the other hand, does a great job of clipping everything to perfection. The clipper is not good enough to clip your saved articles in a proper way, so the solution is sub-par at best. People usually say that OneNote is great for studying, research and so forth, but it really isn't. It's fast enough and small enough that it works great for that particular need, though, so if you don't need anything more there's no reason looking at the others. So it's only for writing notes, not for collecting/clipping anything at all, as it's almost useless in that aspect.
